All You Need To Know To Diagnose Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is an emergency condition that can occur when your body dehydrates and you do physical exertion in hot weather for more than usual time. As it is a medical emergency condition so it needs emergency treatment as well. This includes cooling down your body with whatever source is available, aeration, removal of extra clothing, or calling medical assistance immediately. 

After emergency treatment, some medications should be prescribed by the physician to prevent the recurrence of heat stroke. This is done after properly diagnosing the problem. Here you will find some important methods to diagnose the heat stroke so it can be treated well afterwards. The laboratory tests can confirm the diagnosis, rule out other causes for your symptoms and assess organ damage.

Rectal temperature

To check the temperature of your whole body, normally the rectal temperature is measured. It is the most accurate way of measuring the core temperature of your body. 

Blood test

It predicts the accurate concentration of various ions present in your blood to see if there’s been damage to your central nervous system.

Urine test

To measure your renal function. Heat stroke normally damages the function of the kidney so this is one of the most accurate measures to diagnose a heat stroke

Muscle function tests

To check for serious damage to your muscle tissue

X-ray

To predict any internal organ damage.
