Arrival of summer brings an urge to visit the beach on and off. Hot summer may become dangerous when it leads to heat stroke or heat rash.

Symptoms:
Heat stroke consists mainly of four steps. Symptoms exaggerate with increased severity.
- Heat rash:
If there is redness, flushing with no sweating but extreme stinging because of exposure to the light, this leads to heat rash. If this is the case, follow these steps:
- Take the person immediately to a cooler place.
- Keep the rash area dry.
- Apply prickly heat powder on rash.
- Do not use ointment or Vaseline, as they impair cooling.
- Heat syncope (fainting):
Heat syncope is fainting, dizziness or light-headedness after standing or suddenly rising from a lying/sitting position. If you are facing syncope, immediately lie down in a cool, less humid and shady room. Maintain good hydration and slowly drink juice or clear water.

3. Heat exhaustion:
Headache, thirst, nausea, irritability, and elevated body temperature are the main symptoms of heat exhaustion. This condition is a medical emergency.
- Call for medical help immediately.
- Stay with the patient until help arrives.
- Move the person from the hot area and give liquids to drink.
- Remove unnecessary clothing, including shoes and socks.
- Try to cool down the body temperature with water, cold compresses, an ice bath, or fans.
- Encourage frequent sips of cool water.

- Heat stroke:
Confusion, altered mental state, slurred speech, loss of consciousness. Seizures, very high body temperatures are the main symptoms of heat stroke.
This is an emergency! Call for emergency care immediately!
- Move the person to a cool area and remove outer clothing
- Pour water, use cold compressors, give an ice bath, and turn on the fans
- Stay with the worker until emergency medical services arrive.
